Will being a ACNP help with getting into a CRNA School?

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello everybody,

I am a ACNP working in the ER right now. I always dreamed of being a CRNA but, becasue of location and personal reasons never applied to CRNA school. I have 3 years of ICU experience and already have my masters degree. I have a 3.2 GPA.

I was just wondering if the admission committee would look favorably of me already having an advance degree???

Specializes in CRNA.

It's hard to say, but not necessarily. I think you just need to put in an application and see what happens. What they will want to know is your level of committment to nurse anesthesia. If it is a program that is turning away good applicants, then you may be viewed as someone at higher risk of bailing out when it gets tough in clinical. Another program may be happy to have you in the program.

I think they will look very favorably on an advanced degree because it shows that you can do graduate level work, complete the program, and pass the certification exam---really, a gigantic plus----you just have to clearly and concisely explain why the change in direction and show that you are committed to becoming a CRNA

hmmmm too completly different answers... I know what I want and I know 100% that I can do the program. I plan on applying next year.

thank you for your input :)

Good Luck Lovely lady, with that attitude and focus you'll definately make it
