Will you not be able to enter a program with a 3.0?

Have you investigated any other health careers? There are many with approximately the same educational requirements, but a lot less competition. Frankly, many of them have a much better career trajectory than nursing - in which salary compression has been a problem for decades.

Looked into PTA school. You are just stuck as a PTA. In my State you top out at $40 am hour in 10 years. I rather go to PT school, but I need to find a more stable job.

Radiology Tech and Respiratory Techs is a stagnant field at the moment.

Not sure what other health careers are left.

I am going for nursing. Its stressful having no idea if you'll make it or not, but just got to keep your head down.

@WCSU1987 I feel that way all the time! As nursing students go, we're generally overachievers! (and Proud of it!) I go through a roller coaster of emotions when it comes to acceptance. But, I always arrive at the same conclusion... I AM DOING MY ABSOLUTE BEST! If I'm doing the best I can and don't get into the program, that gives me time to retake classes or the TEAS and reapply next year. Of course, that's not ideal and I will be CRUSHED. But, it's not the end of the road... you can apply again!

That being said, I don't think that you can really put a value on what GPA/TEAS scores 'should' be (besides following the admission requirements). Every year, the applicant pool is different which means that ranks will shift and change based on what the applicants GPAs and TEAS scores are! Keep your head up, stay confident in your abilities, and keep working hard- if it's meant to be, it'll happen!

Decided still plan to be a nurse. I'll put my head down focus on the classes and try not to dwell on my future in the program.

It's at a local community college think competition is high due to cost it's about $20,000. For me with tuition reimbursement and second degree cost me almost $5,000 was why I really wanted to be accepted into the program.

If not accepted going to look into a BSN program and possibly an ABSN program. I still have 7 more prerequisites to do with Chem 1, Chem 2, Physics, Genetics, Precalculus/Natural Science math, and Statistics.

Plan is apply to the Community College Consortium which is you have a first, second, and third choice of schools can apply to at the end of 2016.

End of 2017 applying to a State BSN program if not accepted into the CCC.

Then in 2018 applying in the Spring to a State ABSN program, a private associate degree program, and 1 Private LPN program.

Then in the fall of 2018 applying to a PTA program.

Early 2019 applying to the CCC again, private Associate Degree program, a State ABSN program, and 2 private ABSN programs.

By then if nothing I'll give up ha.

Do not feel so discouraged! Your stats are rather great! Yes, we all strive for the best and wish for only As and highest scores on the entrance exams. However, it may not happen the way we always plan. Like others have said, all you can do is do your best. I am not sure where you live, but research other schools that have RN programs. Not every school will have same admissions requirements. I know many of them require 3.00 GPA which you do have! I guess all you need to do is do a little better on your TEAS! Also, if you have a BA/BS in other disciplines, you can apply to an accelerated BSN. However, these programs are even more competitive than your generic ones. Good luck!
