I see that I just got an email. I haven’t read it yet. Thanks for inquiring.

I've created a FB group for students enrolling in Wilkes University's PMHNP Program for Fall 2019 named Wilkes University PMHNP Fall 2019. It is a closed group. Please check it out.

Hey guys! I am a FNP that will be getting a sub-speciality in psych through Wilkes. I only have to take 3 classes (mainly because I am a FNP already). I will be done in less than a year- I am looking forward to learning more information on how I can help my patients.

I guess we start on 8/26. To be honest I am slightly afraid for the all online format as my classes previously were all in class assignments.

Hi there Coreyann. Tried to send you an email directly (vs posting) but it doesn’t seem to work. I’m interested in this program for Jan. start (missed Fall deadline). I’m also FNP-C. I have applied to a well respected “for profit” as well.

Was curious when I would finish though since I thought it was 18 creds (6 courses without 3 Ps), and they do not conduct clinical rotations over the summer. Do they start you off immediately in rotations prior to psychopharmacology class? I’m wondering if I would finish in December 2020 then. Also what do you know about the residencies? I’m not in PA. Is there any staff directly involved in the program that I might contact? Thanks!

I’ll check my profile to see what email I have there- sorry about that. I am not sure how many classes they accept from school? I can tell you I went to Carlow University and I only have to take a total of 3 classes- psychopharmacology and two other classes with clinical rotations. They do give credits for clinical- I can’t remember for my FNP program if that was the case.

This semester I started with psychopharmacology. In Jan I will take the first psychology class with clinical, no class in the summer then the second psychology class with clinical in the fall then I will be completed with classes in Dec 2020.

If you start in Jan 2020- I would expect you to be completed with classes in May 2021. I wouldn’t try to do more than 1 clinical class a semester as that can be difficult if you are still working- which I am working while in this program.

There are a few people in my class that are not from Pa, so I am not 100% sure about how they are doing their clinical rotation. I know my job has a psychiatrist from Harvard who works with us and he has taken the 3 NPs who are completing the program under his wing- which I am grateful for. I would expect we are responsible for our own clinical- I didn’t read anywhere in the handbook where they find us clinical.

IMO: so far it’s not too bad. I don’t know if I am a fan of the online learning format- however I am not sure I have much of a choice as this is what the new learning style is.

My email is [email protected] if you have any other questions you want to ask.

How is the program going so far? I have been accepted into two online programs and one on campus program for Spring 2020, Wilkes being one of them. I can’t make up my mind on which option to go with. I am looking for some insight as there are few reviews online for Wilkes.
