I believe so too...somewhere in the back of my mind is the constant thought that these criminals are in the system for a reason, and that is not because they are smart...its because they were caught breaking the law...CO's are there to keep peace and to ensure the safety of not only the inmates but other staff as well...this does not give me any confidence whatsoever that my safety is provided for in the very least...

No matter what happens in my personal life, I won't go trolling the yard for a girlfriend. Knowing why these women are here is a strong disincentive - not to mention that I haven't found a relationship yet worth doing time over.

Correctional employees get compromised for a lot of different reasons, and I have seen it happen countless times in my long career in this business. In one facility I worked in (back in my officer days), a male officer was pimping a female officer to inmates and they were splitting the money that was being sent to a bank account on the outside. Apparently an inmate either wasn't provided with the service or he didn't like the service that he got, and he blew the whistle on the whole thing.

Unless I missed something, the prison's nurses weren't even mentioned. It was all about the CO's.

I don't see why this is all that shocking. Criminals can be very charming and slick.
