Can some people not bathe before coming to the Dr?? Being locked up in those **small** rooms with stinky butts and wings is almost too much to ask of a person!! Does anyone else have NON-Bathers?? LOL sassyr:imbar

I think the nastiest things i have come across so far as for stinky is someone who doesn't clean well down there and has a yeast buildup in the joint of their legs.

Or the time i sat in on a pelvic exam, and the woman that was sitting up there was in a full-flow day of her period. "i didn't think it was a big deal if i was raggin'" UGH!!!

One night last spring, we had an elderly gentleman and his wife come to the hospital for one thing: She wanted us to give him a bath. Because he hadn't taken one. For-two-and-a-half YEARS.

Well, you can imagine how he smelled. His clothes were practically rotting off him, and his hair was the kind of filthy you only hear about in stories about homeless people.....you could actually see grime in his hair follicles........and his underwear was just unspeakable. The sad thing was, these were not poor people who couldn't afford soap; he was just demented, and she was unable to handle him anymore.

Needless to say, the fellow was quite resistant to the idea of bathing, but eventually we got him upstairs to the L&D unit where we have the jacuzzi tubs.....thankfully there were no moms in labor that night. Once there, however, he had such a wonderful time soaking in the nice warm bubbling water that he refused to come out for almost 2 hours!! The tub itself was literally BLACK with dirt after we finally got him out, but it was worth it to see him all clean and smelling good. The next morning we discharged him to a nursing home, much to the relief of his poor little wife, who thanked us profusely for "rasslin' George into that tub".

My wife is an OB/GYN. One of the docs in her office has their scheduler to inform their patients that if they should have a yeast infection or be on "their monthly" as he puts it... they are to reschedule their appointment. Should you come in, in that situation, he'll send you home. (Applying only to routine paps/exams, ofcourse)

I'm to the point that I'm almost there with him!

Anyone else seen this done?

Why on earth would any woman WANT to be examined during her menses??! EEEEWWWW.

I remember once when I was an NA and we had an admission to the floor. The patient had a decreased level of consciousness, so we had to undress her from the bottom down. We literally pealed off her underpants and the nurse immediately said, throw those away!

A second later she said, "no wait, from the looks of them they are her only pair"

 eeeew!

I know exactly what you go through. It is disgusting. I am not a smoker so some people that smoke heavily and smell of smoke about knock me out. I have a spray that I use and everyone in the office knows when a "smelly" patient has just left. I also have a electric candle that goes all the time to help with the smell.

Ladies, sometimes the reason they smell so bad is that they have been left in a hot room too long.

Oops, sorry for the double post.

Not at our office, it is as cold as a morgue. Nope, no one can complain about it being too hot.
