WHY SHOULD THEY GET MEDICAL CARE/ free

Published

This is a loaded question....

Here is the question that has been asked since I have been working for corrections. What is your response to those who were annoyed about medical care for the IM. :nono:

Or those who get upset about there tax dollars paying for the free medical care. :angryfire

My response = Every one deserves medical care. If an infection broke out in the prison....... it would need to be extinguish with medical care / antibiotics before spread to the outside public.

What is your intelligent answers to this;).

Thanks, ssalicia

WE HAD A GIRL GET ARRESTED ON A WARRANT WHO WAS 81/2 MONTHS PREGNANT. PHOTOS OF HER OTHER KIDS CAME IN THE MAIL THAT SAME DAY. SHE SENT THEM TO HERSELF. SHE HAD ALSO ARRANGED FOR HER KIDS TO BE WATCHED BY HER MOTHER. IN HER MIND, SHE WOULD GET FREE PRENANTAL CARE AND CHILDBIRTH, AS WELL AS SPENDING AT LEAST ONE WEK OF HER 30 DAYS IN A HOSPITAL. WHEN THE JUDGE WAS NOTIFIED, HE GAVE HER A MEDICAL LEAVE WITH A DATE TO RETUEN AFTER THE BABY WAS BORN.

Smart judge.

I hope this person also got a free tubal ligation or hysterectomy.

Yeah, right. I forgot. She has a right to reproduce. Who cares if she can't pay for her children? She has a right to repopulate the whole earth.

Funny how stunned the inmates are when taught the difference between wants and needs in medical care. Since incarceration is not part of the service industry, comfort is not an issue that has to be addressed. You are supposed to be uncomfortable in jail. That's the whole point the judge tries to get accross. Medical care has become so service oriented on the outside that the general public truly doesn't know.

Yeah, but what about the innocent? And there are plenty of them inside. What about those who are charged but still going to trial or awaiting trial? the mentally ill?

And surely you know that some judges have sullied hands, too, as do some law enforcers and even, gasp, some correctional nurses. We can't judge too harshly or use too broad a brush. We need to be humane and not look down our noses at people just because they're in jail. Yes, lines must be drawn. Inmates don't have to have Cadillac care and they should have to pay to see the doctor, unless it's emergent, also pay for sick call items and prescriptions. If they have no money, let them get it from their families or do some work around the jail.

Furthermore.....LOL, I could complain forever about this topic....

We have people who need surgery but never get it on the outside, then suddenly they come to jail and the surgery is paid for. I do think it's sad because they may not have insurance or they don't qualify for aid, but some are too busy using drugs to get that job that will provide them with insurance.

But bottom line, is the abuse abuse abuse of the system. And yeah, the ones that get arrested just in time to have their baby in jail.

I'm so glad to read about the female that did get caught purposely getting arrested in order to have her baby in jail, for free. That should happen more often.

Refer them to the 8th amendment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eighth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

Remind them that it's not free, they are paying for it with their freedom.
