Do IM have the Right??!!??
Not only do we have our IDs to flash ( to officers )as we go into and out of the Prison but now they want us to wear these name tags that show our last name ???. First of all, Most of us tell the Inmate it is NURSE jane or john - first name basically!! EVen in the Hospital we were referred by our first name not our last by my patients. The Heads are demanding that we wear these because the IM have a right to know!???! I can't tell you how thrilled these inmates are to now join our first name with our last name = and try to get us in trouble when we are not wearing them. Unbelievable !! What can be LEGALLY done about this for our rights and our family rights to privacy. The internet info world is very scary if you get my drift. I know of a case where the IM was able to obtain info in a place no one would ever expect!!!! Please Help the Good guys and send me your insight on this!!! If you know where info can be obtained or and are a lawyer may want to pass your card to this person who was stalked!! Thanks :| Yes i know they can write us up an turn it in to officials = but the date, time and Place of work can easily identify us. not giving our last name too which endangers our family too.

WHY SHOULD THEY GET MEDICAL CARE/ free
This is a loaded question.... Here is the question that has been asked since I have been working for corrections. What is your response to those who were annoyed about medical care for the IM. Or those who get upset about there tax dollars paying for the free medical care. :angryfire My response = Every one deserves medical care. If an infection broke out in the prison....... it would need to be extinguish with medical care / antibiotics before spread to the outside public. What is your intelligent answers to this;). Thanks, ssalicia

Help RN in Preparing c Corrections Job
Hi, :welcome: I am excited but have fear of the unknown:o . In the middle of august I venture to my new job in the prison system and need any clues or hints how to prep myself for this field. I have been a floor nurse for a many years Med/surg. My plan is to work another 15 years than retire so I need great advice to stay in this place. I have been reading this web site about this type of nursing field and finally took the scary plung ... here I come! What is it like there.......... Do I need to learn new cus words and growl allot?? What kind of hints or warnings can ya give so I do not run into trouble there? What exactly is SOAP charting?? One friend told me do not trust so easily even to nurses, check out VS and assessment.,, I was also warned not to become buddy :icon_hug: :icon_roll with the other nurses so quickly....or tell your personal business to them.... some nurses have let there guard down telling person information to the prisoner and trouble has happened:trout: .... I would love to hear some of your own warning stories too..... My brother in law who is a cop ...... warned me of some of the prisoners ways of thinking and manipulation..... directly looking into your eyes..... so forth.... So any hints , stories , book suggestions, so forth I would really be greatful. awaiting your reply.....thanks, ssalicia

Pay scale for new grad in central Ky????
Hi , I am new to all this .............. but when you go for interviews you will find out what the going rate is. The best pay anywhere will be Kaiser though. Your classmates need to share this information with each other. I am from California.... the going new rate as of last year is $32.00 an hr. If you work for an agency your pay is a little higher. Good Luck, just do your research before walking into the hospital. or they will pay you the lowest rate they can. ssalicia
