Why do practicing CRNAs not like OB?

Why do most (many) CRNAs not like to work OB? Loisann and Yoga; do you like OB? Why or why not?

I have completed my OB rotation and, seriously, loved it. I'm in neurosurg now and pretty much could take it or leave it.

Ok, I heard a good one the other day a while back from one of our CV surgeons:

Q: What's the difference between a neurosurgeon and a sperm?

A: At least the sperm has a one in a million chance of becoming a human being.

Did you find this joke offensive and vulgar? I sure didn't. Why is it that we can joke about everyone else, but not about ourselves. And by the way, for the couple of people that made reference to polish jokes, I'm polish and love a good Polak joke. I'm also a blonde and not easily offended at blonde jokes. It's like a double whammy, blonde and Polish, but I've got a good enough sense of humor to not take everything to heart.

Maybe this wasn't the best place for deepz to tell a joke like that....I mean, come on deep, you had to know that was going to get a bunch of panties in a bunch....but vulgar? Whatever..... I thought it was semi-funny.

I know this sounds kind of dumb. But I have never heard of a CRNA. What does that stand for?:uhoh3:

well, I did not get to read whatever deepz wrote so, i can not make any specific comments to that regard. I want to rest assured that after reading some of deepz's other posts that this most probably must have been done in humor.

Vulgar? Please. I can't believe how offended people are getting. It was a funny joke, I guess...., but it's even more funny how upset you all are. Chill out.

Hear, hear. I am tickled!

And now, censorship. Very sad.

I'm gonna call Howard Stern and complain loudly. Not.

For those among us who are overweight:

"You cannot dodge responsibility for how and why your life is the way it is. If you don't like your job, you are accountable. If you are overweight, you are accountable. If you are not happy, you are accountable." --Dr Phil McGraw

And nowwww back on topic:

If I didn't make it clear, I enjoy doing OB anesthesia. There is a satisifaction in walking into a room of a very uncomfortable patient, and when you leave, you are their best friend, and they are taking a nap.

Downside is there is no way of knowing when you will be needed, and for how long. If mom decides she wants an epidural, is in active labor, dilated to 4 cm, and its 2 am, guess who is getting out of bed?
