Why is it so hard to get & keep a full time job???

I have been an LVN in Texas for 3 years & most of my jobs have been PRN. I feel like I have to pull teeth to try to find a full time job! I tried LTC & when I did I worked part time or PRN, it was horrible & I will never go back. I worked in corrections & my boss was horrible I worked PRN but full time hours (see how that works). I've been doing PDN on & off for 3 years. It can be soo fickle. I'm also PRN with 2 companies.

I was doing really well with one particular company, working with 2 clients. But I got a phone call from the company, the foster mother did not want me to go back to the home/the child. She felt my nursing skills were "up to par". I had only been there twice & my orientation was for 2 hours. The kid is 2 years old, a drowning victim, is semi conscious, has a jtube, & requires a LOT of sx'ing. He can desat A LOT. I don't know what the foster mother was expecting but I did everything for that baby. So now I'm out of hours until they can fit me in with different cases. I hope I can find a full time job somewhere!

    I think you need to keep looking. Try outpt facilities, dialysis, etc. I've not had an issue finding full time work. I have had an issue finding PRN or part time work for on my days off.

    Lol! I wish I had that problem. :p I've applied to dialysis LVN positions, always rejected. Ditto goes for hospital positions. I've IV & ACLS certified. I've really getting depressed but hopefully I'll get into the bridge program when I apply because this is getting horrible & making me depressed. :/

    Well you are prepared. It's hard in general to find jobs. Something will turn up. Make sure you have someone look at your résumé to see if it needs to be touched up. Good luck getting into your bridge program!
