Is it easier to get a RN licence in N.Y. ? Do I have to register with CGFNS?
And can I convert a N.Y. licence into a MA licence?
Help, please....

NY have a special licence verification going with CGFNS so you do have to go through them and from what I gather they sort out getting your transcripts etc for NY. Check NY BON to see whats what. I think you should be able to endorse your NY to MA but again would check with the MA BON. Suzanne4 would be your best best to answer but I think she has been a bit busy and haven't seen her post much lately
Thanks!
I will check the BON .
I really need to do something to get me started here in the states.
Yesterday I did the TOEFL but the CGFNS paperwork still confuses me...

NY isn't the easiest, but they wqill issue you a hard copy license as soon as you pass the NCLEX exam, and you do not need CGFNS exam for a lincese from NY. There are several stickies at the top of this forum that will give you all of the info.
If you go the route of NY, CGFNS will actually submit all of the forms to your licnesing board and nursing school. The only applications that you need to submit are the ones for Visa Screen, Credentials verification for NY, that is also on the CGFNS website, and the actual application for NY licnesure.
Hi Suzanne4!
Thanks.
But I still couldn`t figure out weather I can change the N.Y. licence into a MA one without having worked in N.Y.. My goal is Boston . Does the MA board requires a minimum working experience in N.Y. or will they change without?
I read the informations here . For me it makes only sense to go N.Y. if I will be able to switch to MA immediately as my kids are here in MA.

Yes, you can endorse your license to Massachusetts. You will not change your licnese you will just be licensed in an addtional state. Be aware that Massachusetts has strict requirements as far as language. They will not issue your license without the language exams already completed. You are not required to work first, unless they have just changed their rulings.
Good luck...................
Thanks so much, you made my day!
I took the TOEFL 2 weeks ago . I will get the results next week and hopefully enough points.
The range they gave me right away was between 200 and 254 depending on my essay...
I know they are strict in MA but that is o.k. . Language is very important....
Now that I know that N.Y. is possibe I will register online and print again all the paperwork.
Thanks, thanks, thanks....

I would register right away for the TSE, as that is the test that MA requires.
You will need that for the Visa Screen Certificate.
