Which vessel has higher pressure? That's where you want outflow. Which has lower pressure? That's where you want inflow.

... and that's the way nephrons (the microscopic main structural part of the kidney) actually work. High pressure in artery pushes water and filtrable materials through the membrane till the pressure equalizes.
