Why cant New York residents get online NP program?

Why? Its so annoying because its convenient right now for me. I am Licensed in NY and TX. I had hope of attending chamberlain FNP but since I don't reside in TX I don't qualify for CCN FNP program. If anyone has a List of schools online that accepts NY residents please post. Clinical site in not a problem for me.

I know this an old thread - but I am running into the same issue. Does anyone know if there has been any changes as far as NY goes with online NP schools. Everything I read says that it is illegal to do any NP clinical rotations in NYS unless you attend a program registered with the NYSED -- which is only a couple of schools. I have no issue taking a national certification exam - I just worry about the clinical rotations.

Any guidance is really appreciated!

Frontier Nursing University has NY State authorization for clinical rotations.

I just finished a psych NP program that was online (distance learning) from Stony Brook University in Long Island. I was a NY resident at the time.
