Whose going or been to Barnes-Jewish College

I start at Barnes Jewish College, Upper Bsn in 2 months. Just checking if anyone has been or is currently attending to see what they think about it, advise and what not? Thanks in advance! Cheers. :yeah:

Question: I'm recently applied for the Fall 2012 semester, and wondering how far in advance you ladies applied? I guess I'm just curious how far in advance you need to apply to possibly avoid being waitlisted. thanks!!

I applied 12 months in advance. I didn't plan my prereq time right and finished them early and had the spring 11 semester off. I was accepted to May 11-summer term, and got on the wait list for spring, just so I didn't have to wait a whole nother semester. But as it turned out, I did, and I am glad I had the break between transitioning between prereq's and Summer. I don't know if there are waits because I applied a yr in advance. However, if you are done with your prereq's for example and just now applying for Fall 11 you may have a problem. It just depends how many applied, and how many got accepted that don't start and how many are on the wait list before you. When did you apply? Fall term is almost here. :D

Thank you, ladies, for your responses! I'm feeling really hopeful now :) I feel like I am a (pretty) good candidate so I hope to avoid the ol' waitlist! I have 5 pre-reqs to take over the next 3 semesters, so I hope to get accepted/start at Barnes in Fall '12. I like the sound of a break before the nursing program, so I suppose I could try to take my 5 pre-reqs in 2 semesters instead of 3...something to certainly consider! Oh, and I forgot to specify, I applied for the accelerated program. Best of luck to you, madpeys, in the program--I hope to see you more here on the boards. The same to you, Ameyer410, thanks for your advice! All of us Missouri gals should keep in touch :)

Jennybird--I also applied to the BJC Accelerated program to begin Fall 2012. My application was completed at the end of June (2011) but I still haven't heard anything. I called the admissions office and was told that it was taking 6-8 weeks to process applications, but I've been waiting over 8 weeks now. I literally run to the mailbox everyday. Have you heard anything yet?

I have not heard anything yet, either. My application was complete a bit later than yours, on July 20. They initially told me the processing time is 4-6 weeks! So, for me I'm going on 6 weeks and thought I'd hear back soon, but sounds like I'll be waiting a few more weeks. This worries me to hear how long you've been waiting, but at the same time, it's good to know so I know not to get my hopes up this week. Argh...I'm thinking it's probably a combination of their office receiving many applications and probably low staffing to process them?? I will keep you updated, though.

Also, it's great to hear from someone who's applying for the same semester! Are you taking pre-reqs now? Go ahead and PM me if you want :0)

I am in the same boat as you with regards to pre-reqs--I have 5 more to complete so I'm taking 2 this semester, 2 spring semester and 1 next summer. I'm trying to stay calm about how long it's taking...maybe they process the applications for preceding semesters first? But definitely let's keep in touch!
