Who's applying to UT Houston CRNA 2010

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello all, I have lurked for quite a while on this forum and learned soooooo much valuable info. about CRNA school. Thanks to all the vets and those who give valuable information out. I am here in Houston and was just wondering who is applying to UT Houston's CRNA program this year? The application deadline has passed and I am anxiously, hopefully awaiting an interview invitation and wanted to know who else is? Thanks!

I cannot wait to hear some news!! I think my interview went pretty well, how was yours Sugar? I have heard to start looking on UTLink as early as Wednesday for a notice of acceptance. I'm pretty sure after interviewing with UT that I will go to school there. Compared to TCU, UT offers the best and more well rounded clinical experience. Not to mention 36k bucks cheaper. The clinical part being the most important factor to me at this moment. I will post when I have word. I will pray for us both! :)

jbull86, pardon the brevity but hear are some answers for you... and you must check out the websites of each of the schools you are interested in applying to and speak to admissions councilors as they will tell you what they are looking for with more detail. Again the answers to your questions are different for each school.

GPA is ok. I have a friend starting at Wolford with a 2.9 BSN GPA (also with an MBA before starting too)

You need to make the BEST GRE/MAT score that YOU can get

Get at least 2-3 years ICU experience before applying. CV/surgical ICU's are your best bet. Variety is good too, but be great in 1 specialty like CV or trauma. You should be a resource/coach on your unit.

Yes to all of those certs, committees, and be a preceptor/coach, and charge.

Definitely shadow a CRNA.

Just be the best damn ICU nurse you can be and learn as much as you can! There is really no specific recipe, and is dependent on how much you want it and hard you work for it. All the best.

Hey Love. I felt good about my UT interview as well. I also interviewed at LSU on Friday, and that one went good to. What day did you interview at UT? I was there on Thurs. at 1000. Just crossing my fingers and praying that we will all get in. I heard that they will start posting on Wednsday too. I hear what you are saying about TCU. UT has always been my first choice. Well, I will keep in touch and you do the same, and here is hoping that we will be classmates this year at UT!!!

Sugar, it's up on UTLink now... I got in! I was there in the same day as you, mine was at 0830, but it actually started at 0900 and I was out of there by 0930. Let me know if you hear something. I hope we will be classmates too! Glad LSU went well for you also!

Love, I had checked it at about 0645 yesterday morning and I was in too!!! Yay, we will be classmates. By the way, you know we have a mutual friend? Won't mention her name on here, but she told me yesterday who you were and that you said you knew me from here on the forum. She and I both work in CVRR at St. Lukes, so you know who I am talking about. :) At any rate, looks like we will be classmates girl. I am so excited that I don't know what to do. I feel so blessed! Talk to you later, and CONGRATULATIONS to both of us!!! We did it!!:yeah:

Ladies, Congrats on getting into UT. I too will be attending the program, see you on campus. Hook 'em Horns! :)

Congrats Thaiger!! Where are you from, and if the Houston area, where do you work? Looking forward to meeting you. Yay for all of us!!!!!:yeah:

Congratulations Thaiger and Sugar!!! :w00t:

:yelclap:

Sugar: a small world indeed! She is a good friend.

I'm so excited for our success!!! :D

I am from Thailand, but have spent most of my life here in Houston. I work at St Joseph Medical Center in downtown. I'm excited for all of us and can't wait to start taking classes. Where do you work at? Do you know of any others that are in our class? Congrats again.

Hey Thaiger, I'm from Houston and recently moved to Dallas for a change of pace. Before that, I worked at Hermann TMC CVICU. There will be 2 of my coworkers from there in our class. They are both good people. I'm really excited too, and can't wait to meet you both!

Thaiger, I work at St. Lukes here in the med. center. Funny thing is I use to work at St. Joseph before I came to St. Lukes. I was in PACU and the OR. Do you in ICU there? We have two people from St. Joseph that transferred from to our ICU. I will be starting UT with 3 of my co-workers from St. Lukes. We will all be one big happy family. Anyone took their drug test and did background check, etc. I finished all that today, and sent my physical form in as well. I am so stoked.

Any vets willing to post their old book lists?

Tejas, what book list are you speaking of? Be glad to help if I can.
