A few of us were commenting that we need to lose a significant amount of weight. Let's team up and cheer each other on to lose weight, exercise, and get healthy!! We can do it!! :pumpiron:

We can take it 5 or 10 pounds at a time so those of us with a lot to lose won't get discouraged. We can officially start April 1st so everyone can prepare and get their last binges out of the way. :roll

Everyone is welcome!! Let's take back control of our lives and get healthy!! Who is in?! :)

Hey everyone, count me in on April 1st as well!! I'm new here, applying to start nursing school in January '08 and have about 120 lbs. to lose. Glad to hear I'm not alone. My son died in 2002 and I gained more than 80 lbs. to the 40 lbs. I already had been carrying. I am so sick of being fat and want to lose most of this weight before I start school and my new career.

I'm so glad to have this forum and glad we can all lean on each other. Here's to less of us!! :D Good luck everyone!

Cheryl

I am so sorry for your loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. :(

The good news is we can all start a new and healthy journey together. I bet your son would be so proud of you.

Thanks so much for your kind words and your prayers, I appreciate it so much.

Yes, here is to a new and healthy journey! :yeah:

Those of you who haven't started your programs yet would be very wise to start now! It has been next to impossible for me get motivated now that I am in school all the time! I have 10 pounds that I need to lose, but I would really like to lose 25-30. That would still put me 10 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight (My son is 2 1/2). I lost about 20 pounds last summer but I gained most of it back before I started my program and the gained the rest over winter break. I did the low carb thing, and while it was very effective, I could not handle it. I was felt sick all the time-headache, nausea, felt like I was starving no matter how much I ate. I gave that up quick and just did the low-cal thing which was much better, but I easily lost my motivation because I went from losing 4-5 bounds a week to losing 1-2. But it is so much more doable and much healthier, so I'm gonna go with that again. Just bought a new treadmill! (Still in the box! ) Well good luck to everyone. If you guys don't hear from me again within a few weeks, pm me and give me a hard time because that probably means that the treadmill is still in the box and I'm still hitting the drive thru.

3 words that will change your lives and I know it did for plenty of others and is on tv to prove it. "FAT SMASH DIET"! by Dr. Ian Smith! He is the Dr on the VH1 reality show Celebrity Fit Club and it's worked and actually gotten rid of people that needed to lose weight and get their BP down and everything. It is wonderful. Two different websites, his official website is www.fatsmashdiet.com and then there is a forum like this www.fatsmashforum.com it is fantastic. PLEASE check it out..Read the testimonials. They all have tried Jenny, WW all that stuff. It is easy..Believe me, if I did it, you all can do it. I tried to get my mom on it, she's over 50 an overweight and smokes and has High BP..but there is sooo many women on there over 50 and high BP and they can testify that it has helped them. So ladies, PLEASE at least check it out. I wanted to lose 25lbs when I started in Sept and got down 13lbs by Halloween and I should've kept it going but like I said before the holidays got the best of me. :trout: If you can go w/ just eating Veggies and Fruit and water and some brown rice, yogurt, egg whites and all the beans you want for the 1st 9 days and then add ur meats on the 10th day and some cheese, I really suggest it to all of you. If you have anymore questions email me @ [email protected]. I will be happy to help you. I'm going to start on Monday, I would wait til the 1st but I have been going wild since I got better, i had the flu for like 4 days and couldn't eat anything I wanted. Lost 6lbs..lol. Not a good way though. So what do you say ladies?????? Give it a try? I promise you'll love it. Go check out the Forum for it. You'll see how great they are all feeling and it gives you so much motivation..When I fall off, i read it and I'm like wow! SO let me know...Good Luck and I'm here for you. I will be splurging on the food until after I take My NLN tomorrow..I'm stressing...I'm not doing too good on the practice tests in the book...I missed 78 questions..not good. :nono: This has nothing on the subject we're on..I'll post a different thread. Good Luck!

I'm taking this as a sign! LOL I bought this book on Friday, and did my grocery shopping yesterday and am literally in front of the computer with my oatmeal and banana now! I hadn't been on in a few days so this is my first time seeing this post. It really does not seem to be bad--only 9 days with a "hard" menu. I'm going to the forums now to see how others are doing. I couldn't wait until April 1--I had to start and I am today. Here's hoping Ian Smith won't let me down. LOL

PS...so nice to see you did well on this. Don't stress over the NLN, I didn't do too well on those practice tests either.

I'm in!!! I am actually starting something at work in a couple of weeks here and will HAVE to work out and that will probably push me to eat right too, so I am going to TRY to get my old pre-pregnancy shape back!!!

Good luck everyone!!!

Also, I am going to do the South Beach Diet. I did this before I got pregnant with my daughter and from August til December, I lost about 30 lbs. It works for me, so I am going to stick with it, but that Fat Smash Diet looks interesting too!! I hate to spend the money, but maybe I can find it used and see what it's all about!!! Sounds like it may be similar to South Beach!!

I have now, about 75 lbs or so to lose, 100 and I'd be happy and at my ideal weight!

The FatSmash Diet sounds good. It's kinds what I've been doing lately too. I was doing the Atkins diet; I did it before and lost about 30 lbs; but I can't do that diet anymore! I'd rather eat bananas and oatmeal and fresh veggies any day than eat meat and cheese and eggs all the time!!! I need to find a low-impact workout too.

I used to be a fitness freak, I'd run at least 2 miles and life weights 6 days a week, but I partially herniated my L4 & L5 a few years ago and I can't run anymore:sniff: and a lot of high impact stuff brings the back pain back. I wish there was something I could do to fix my back for good so that I could go back to being able to work out. My doc has told me I just have to stay away from high-impact activity and maintain good body mechanics.

For now I'll keep at the diet and good luck to everyone!!!

Have you tried pilates? The fat smash diet recommended that as one exercise option and I bought a cheap dvd at walmart (like 5 bucks) with beginners pilates. It's easy for me to do so far--I hate exercise. LOL (Who doesn't?) You might give that a shot.

When I lost all my weight the last time I did Pilates after I got off about 70 of it and it truly changed my body. You could totally see the difference. I am going to do it this time too after I get off about 70 or so. I also did some Tae Bo and plain old walking which I love to do. Put on some headphones and you can totally zone out. :lol2:

hi everyone! i hope you are all gearing up to start your health and fitness "regimens"! i know that i've already fit in my weight training for today!!

i'd like to give a word-to-the-wise about fad diets, because trust me i've had some experience with them: they are just that--fads. i've tried a lot of them: atkins, south beach, low-fat, etc. but none of them ultimately worked long term for me. more often than not people who start a fad diet fail to reach their goals. why? because they generally don't give you all the technology to reach those goals. now, please don't give me flak because people can and do lose weight on these diets. i'm not dissing your efforts! but here's the question: do you want to lose weight or get healthy?? even the term "diet" is misleading...it conjures up images of grapefruits, cabbage, and an all-meat-smorgasbord. but mostly a diet involves deprivation, right?!? wrong! you can learn to eat, eat healthy, and eat a lot when you are pairing healthy food with exercise and resistance training. does that mean you can eat whatever you want? not necessarily, because french fries still have a lot of fat and milk shakes still have a lot of sugar. but you can find healthier substitutes that taste great and support your goals: baked fries and a protein shake. plus, allow yourself that "cheat" every once in awhile to keep your sanity!

anyway, if you want to jump start your health and fitness with a popular diet, that's ok. imo it's not ideal, since you can achieve the same thing by just making smarter choices and incorporating exercise. either way you will be making the effort, and that's the most important first step. here's an article from a reputable health/fitness guy who has been in the business of teaching people the proper "technology" for years. it's a little out there, but he's trying to be funny! http://www.philkaplan.com/invasion.htm

good luck and keep us all posted on your progress and what your regimen is! maybe people could post their goals, a time frame for achievement, and what they are starting with (food/diet/exercise prosepects). good luck!

Okay gang...I am going to start a thread on 4/1 to get us all started. I will then do another official thread on May 1st, June 1st, etc. so we can all share our weight loss and the inches that have left our bodies for good!! WOO HOO!!

People can share exactly what they are comfortable with. This is just a way for us to track ourselves, have some accountability, (which I need ;) ) and cheer one another on.

We have 9 months to the new year which means many will meet their goals and others of us will hopefully be half there at that point. YIPPEE!! I will start a new challenge in January 2008 for those of us that will need additional time to get where we need to be. We can do it together team!! :balloons:
