Who to trust?

Is there any one place one can go to totally trust that the medical information will be honest, current, independent and in best interest of the patient? Seriously --

Where would you go, who would you call if money or time was no object, you could go anywhere in the world and if it were you needing help and not your patient?

Hey thanks for the nice comment about Mayo....that's were I work! We do have a web site which includes a place to ask questions.

I've gone to the Mayo Clinic's website many many times. I love it and trust it.

Dr. Weil, of drweil.com runs a clinic in Arizona I believe. The doctors there are interested in the total patient and try alternative therapies. That seems to be trustworthy to me.

Basically, though the truth for me is that with the current health care insurance environment taking away choices, I just have to blindly trust who takes my insurance and hope for the best. Of course being in the medical field, like Steph, I would do my own research on the net, etc. and I would ask the MDs any and all questions that I have.

Most Americans don't have the option to do much shopping around the country for facilities and organizations they can trust. They have to go locally, who they can afford to go to, and who their HMO's tell them to go to.

Good luck in your research!

I think it would depend on your ailment.

For CV Surgery, or anything OB I like no where better than Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington KY.

Orthopedics I like IEU in Indiana...

Cancer, I like .

The list could go on and on.

As far as researching disease, Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic are great. If they have done a study on what will work for the disease your looking at.... run with it. We use their protocols in our practice and thus; are able to offer our pts the same care they would get at these centers.

Hopefully you can find a great resource!
