Friday night I went by one of our skilled residents who was going home the next day. He stopped me as I was passing by. He was sitting visiting with his wife, chomping at the bit about going home right then instead of waiting. We chatted for a moment and he looked up at me and said "Who is here to love them? I can see that they (LTC residents) are well cared for but who loves them"
Wow, I was speechless.....and I can say that it is an honor to care for them all, the ones with families that come all the time and for the ones who rarely get a visit.
