Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Hello allnurses!! I have registered for my classes beginni(prof nursing A/B and technical writing) now I am excited and eager to begin! Who's starting with me? Quick question..... How many prerequisite classes do/did u have to take? 5 for me including tech writing :(. Is the program truly 9,000 w/o prerequisites? How much more could an additional 5 classes be??? I look fwd to hearing from u guys (old and new classmates)

Hello MBrickle! I'm not sure if you still need it or not but the upcoming schedule was emailed to me today. What is your student email I will send to you? How has class been going for you so far? It's coming a long pretty well for me.[/quote']

Is there any way you could also email me this? [email protected]

Thanks!!!

Erin

I got the new schedule, thanks!!!

I actually am having an issue finding articles for the week 1 assignment. I mean, how exact do they have to be?! I have found many that discuss the benefits of being a BSN-prepared nurse but none about the transition exactly.

Sorry it took so long Erin but I just emailed it to u!

I got the new schedule, thanks!!!

MBrickle, I am just now logging back on here and I'm sure your question has been answered by now (since that part of the assignment is over). However, I hope you were able to find the response to your answer in time. I had the same question but I saw it on the Q&A board from another webmate and read her response. So it worked out! I just finished posting my discussion post for week 2. Now off to bed. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Yes thanks. I ended up with an 88 for assignment 1. Those stupid templates screwed me up as I had no idea we needed to use APA formatting for every little thing! They should have explained that. I figured it just had to be for papers. Oh well, from what I hear, trial and error is big in this program in regard to figuring out what they want/don't want.

Hope you did well!

I got an 88 too. These classes are so time-consuming, it's no wonder they recommend taking them one at a time! They're so particular about every little thing, I'm almost scared of APA now lol. Just gotta take them one week at a time, I guess! Hope everyone's doing well!

I hear ya! I'm also in English comp 2 and that whole class focuses on MLA! Ugh! It took me a solid 6 hours to find and document 10 sources for an assignment in that class. I'm petrified to get my grade back as I'm sure I screwed it up. Formatting is seriously harder than it seems and I hate it!

I have a feeling my academic coach is a bit nit-picky for professional nursing but I really think they should have explained that APA formatting extends to the text boxes as well.

Yes, this is really time consuming. I would take tests over papers any day...especially because I don't think this program is going to change my level of "professionalism" either way.

I made a 98 on that assignment and yes you are right these classes are very time consuming. This class is more interesting for me though than that technical writing class (which I just absolutely can't stand by the way). Anyhow keep me posted on your progress guys!

I got an effing 75% on my week 2 response. WHAT?!?! How did that happen?! I didn't get any points for writing a post that was scholarly/well thought out with appropriate grammar?!

I just wrote a really angry (yet professional) e-mail to my AC. I feel as if I am not getting any idea as to what she wants, and am only learning as I lose significant points, which I do not think is fair at all. I want an A in this class. I want an A in all classes and I've been working my butt off for it. This is ridiculous! Why don't they give partial points, either? I find that ridiculous! I should have at least been given half of the 25% for writing SOMETHING!

Also, how are they going to grade the assignments that they just check off as opposed to the assignments that get graded? It all goes towards participation. I am growing to hate this class and I think its because of my coach. I have M.W., does anyone else? She sucks!

Obviously I'm angry...but this class, even the damn Q&A is so not helpful. They don't even answer your questions! If the rest of the program is like this then I will not be continuing. The objective is learning, but I feel as if they refuse to help those who are actively doing the work to seek information which is honestly deflating me.

MBrickle, are we talking about the same class? Are you referring to Professional Nursing A&B? If so how do you see your discussion grade bc mine hasn't been graded yet?

I looked under "grades" and then looked at "week 2," which was a 75/100. You can click on "rubric" right under the grade and it shows 4 criteria to be met and you get either 25% or 0%.

I regret writing such a hothead e-mail to my AC now as I realized she did not assign me a grade for the first aspect of the criteria (scholarly/professional with no grammar issues). I got neither a 25% or a 0%, so maybe I'm wondering if she just made a mistake by not completely grading me. However, if it is a 75% I'll be so angry - how could I possibly not get the remaining 25%?! I wrote a well thought-out post and 2 responses! I thought maybe it was because they want you to use citations but nobody else did and that would not be applicable for many topics. For example, this week, how would I use a citation while writing what my question is going to be for the week 3 assignment, you know?

I'm not enjoying this class in the least. Have no idea what to do for this assignment!!
