Published

Hi all! I've been out of school for almost two years now. I'm planning to back to school in the Fall for my MSN/ FNP. I need an academic reference. I wasn't all that involve in college and don't really know any professors well. What should I do? Any suggestions would be great! THX!!!

Does your grad school application specify how many letter need to be from professors and how many from work references? I needed two from former professors and one from someone at work. Even though you graduated a while ago I would still try to e-mail some of your former professors and mention who you are and that you need references and can you please have one?! Also it would be helpful for you to send them your resume. That might help them remember you and it would also help them to write your letter and to include all your good points! :) I know profs usually keep records of students so I bet someone remembers you. Good luck.

I know when I went back for my masters, my initial nursing school was a while ago and I didn't even remember any of my instructors...so I laid it on the line and the grad school went with supervisors and co-workers.

Thanks for replying guys! Thanks for all the suggestions!

I need to have 3 references. One from supervisor if I'm employed...which I am. One academic reference. Another one either from a co-worker or academic or community involvement related. I'm getting one from my nurse manager. I e-mailed one of my professors...I explained to her who I was and why I'm e-mailing her. She agreed to write me a reference letter!!! YAHOO!!! :D Just need another one...maybe a clinical instructor at my community nursing placement???

Um...I think I'm all set! THX so much! I'm always open to suggestions!
