Who is applying for Linfield this go around?

Published

I'm applying for the regular BSN program this year... I've finally got most of the prerequisites done, and have started wading through the new application - the NursingCAS thing is complicated!

Are you applying anywhere else? I'm applying to U of P, OHSU, and PCC, too. Hopefully I'll get in somewhere.... It's pretty nervewracking!

Yes the Nursingcas thing is hard time figure out!!

I am applying everywhere.. Linfield U of P OHSU PCC MT.Hood Clark

Just waiting for my teachers to post grades and I will start sending in the apps. I have everything done but Stats.

I am soooooooo nervous!! I hope I get in somewhere!!

Me me me! Applying to accelerated Bac at Linfield and OHSU:yeah:

Trying to work on admissions essays and on making Christmas presents at the same time. Wish me luck with that one:rolleyes:

Is Linfield's essay format giving anyone else the fits? I mean, some of the QUESTIONS are about 30 words long, and I'm supposed to answer in 100 words or less?!?

I agree about the Nursingcas system. Blarg. I want to be consistent, but seriuously, was a Women's studies class I took on the history of women in the USA from the nineteenth century on a "social sciences" class or an "other course?" Hopefully no one cares all that much!

Have you made contact with ----, the admin adviser (is that really the correct spelling? adviser, advisor?) If you are concerned about your essays, it can't hurt to email her, ask for advice, and it will get your name in the door. Good luck.

P.S. be sure to do it EARLY or she will never get to your email once apps start coming in.

Hey, thank you. :heartbeat

I agree. ---- can be awesome to talk to, and is pretty busy this time of year.

I guess I've hesitated to contact her because I know I CAN be vivid and brief in my essays, but it's harder for me than banging out an essay with no word limit. So though I CAN stick to a hundred words (and do it pretty well) it just takes me forever!

I found a pretty good online guide to filling out the Insight Resume format, which I can post on here if anyone would like.

Is anyone interested in sharing what they shared via their insight resume? I found it a bit redundant, but gave me a few opportunities to talk about things I've done. What it didn't leave much room for was relating it to how I thought it would apply to nursing/Linfield. Alas, it's all turned in now, so no second guessing!

I definitely noticed myself repeating a few things on the insight resume. That was hard to complete! I worked on it for MONTHS, and when the time came to send it off, I felt really nervous - it's basically the only way they get to know the applicant, aside from GPA and work history. I wrote about single parenting for my leadership, and did manage to apply it to nursing school - time management, conflict resolution, etc. The questions were pretty thought-provoking. I found the creativity one the hardest - I realized I don't have too many hobbies left, between work, school and parenting. Sigh.

Actually, I've felt that way about every application I've sent - nervous to let it go, wondering if I forgot anything, or could have made it better...

Where else are you applying, momazon?

Also, Cinquefoil, I thought my answers worked out to be longer than 100 words each; I'm applying for the regular BSN, but I think they're the same. I just fit them to text field. It was hard not to be too wordy!

Good luck to everyone!

I'm putting all my eggs in the Linfield basket...:o

If I don't get in I'll try for U of P next year and maybe Concordia, if I decide I'm willing to go through CNA training.

Has anyone had their transcripts verified, or even received, by Nursing CAS yet? I sent my over 2 weeks ago, and they haven't been received yet, which I find pretty unlikely. I'm getting pretty nervous they won't in the system in time...

You can e-mail them at [email protected]. They got back to me about a question I had asap. Another thing- if you decide to resend your transcripts, package them together and send them with receipt confirmation. It costs more, but the peace of mind is worth it!
