Of those of you who have taken the NCLEX recently, and have reviewed Mosby's, Kaplan or Saunders, which do you think is the most similar to the NCLEX. In terms of the way the questions were worded and the general theme of the questions, was one more like the actual NCLEX? I have reviewed all of the above, including Mosby's 30-day online test questions and their predictions of your probabability of passing the NCLEX. I got up to 99% probability of passing.
I also found that with Saunders and Kaplan the questions and the way they were worded all ran about the same as far as the questions were worded and the general content.
However, I just took a couple of Princeton Reviews tests, 160 questions each and faired very poorly with them. The wording of their questions were different, the questions were quite different. Some of the questions I had never heard of.
Has anyone taken the Princeton Review? Do you think this review reflects the actual NCLEX better than Mosby's, Kaplan or Saunders?
Very nervous about this.
Thanks

I recommend the Saunders book as it goes over the correct and incorrect ansers with you..............This is what my students preferred and we had quite a few of them at the school.
Thank you so much. I agree with you. I very much like Saunders. That and Mosby's review the same important concepts. But Princeton just throws out a question to you and says this is right or wrong. For example, I had to look up thalassemia. The right answer for it according to Princeton "disorder of mediteranean descendents." I had to look further to find it had to due with anemia disorders.
The reason I am so nervous about this, is a good friend kept urging me to get Princeton and almost guarantees you will pass. I find it very frustrating. I just hope that the questions on the exam are not worded the same. The review book that comes with the CD is pretty good in outlining the concepts of the systems.
Thanks again.

I am taking Kaplan's online course and I find it very helpful. It not only gives you an excellent review of commonly tested topics on the NCLEX, but it also teaches you strategies of how to answer the questions (how to eliminate choices, how to prioritize, etc). It's pretty expensive ($400), but they also give you a TON of practice questions, and its nice b/c you can do it all at your own pace.
My test percentages have gone up 10% already
We shall see how good Kaplan really is (I take the test Feb 10th!!!)
good luck!

Hi
I took and passed the NCLEX-RN in August and personally I thought my questions most closely resembled the Kaplan practice questions. But I think it's good to practice using a few different resources. Helps the info stick better, and you might recognize something on the NCLEX that you may have reviewed.
Best of luck!

My class of 1993 were the last class to do two days of paper and pencil NCLEX. I took an NCLEX course and the test was mostly psyche and using your judgement questions. Thank God I didn't have to re-take the NCLEX!!!
