Hi Folks
I am looking for a full time job now with good insurance. I have only been working part-time with no insurance for the past 2 years. I am wondering which jobs you think would have the best chance for good medical insurance? Should I try hospitals, medical clinics, urgent care centers or nursing homes? I don't care about getting the highest wages. I just want to find a job that might have good medical insurance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks;)

Of those listed, hospitals would have the best insurance because they often waive any extra cost if you use that facility. In other words, if a test is 80% covered and you have it done there, the 20% would be waived after deductible. When I had my baby whatever part of the section that wasn't covered by insurance was written off; we never paid a penny.
Not all places do this but many do.
Thanks TazziRN. That sounds great! I haven't worked in a hospital for so many years. I hope I can find a hospital willing to hire an LPN. I will definately try my luck at hospitals first. There is a medical clinic which is a part of the local hospital here. If the hospital won't hire me, perhaps their medical clinic will and hopefully they will have the same benefits as the hospital workers?
If the clinic is owned by the hospital then the plan should be the same.
That's wonderful news TazziRN!!!!:monkeydance: Yes, the same company owns the hospital and the medical clinic. In the past, I have seen several ads for LPN's at their medical clinic. Hopefully, I will find an ad for their medical clinic tomorrow in the Sunday paper. Thanks so much.:balloons:

I worked for a home health agency that had some of the best health insurance! Sometimes hospitals get so large, they can't offer benefits economically and cut corners. This home health agency was large enough to great rates and bennies and they paid 100% of the premuim- something large places cant afford to do lots of time.
Thanks kukukajoo. So Home health may have good insurance too. That's good to know. I never even thought of that. I am cleaning the garage out right now, but I will definately have to check into that too.
Blackcat- I think it depends on the companie's greed and profits (or some of both) to tell you the truth. I have worked at small companies that offer diddly and small and large that offer good ones. I do know the local hospitals up here have just reduced choices for their employees and the bennies SUCK if you ask me. I think I was spoiled working in the construction industry for small companies that treated their employees like family. I really miss that and some of the bennies.
That HHA this past summer, offered insurance from day one-FREE for everyone who worked 20 hours or more, which was a lifesaver for me- I was getting ready to start the Nsg program and had to get my titers and shots, physical, etc for nursing school. Hadn't been to doc in a very long time.
I was able to go to a great teaching hospital as my primary care doc (and their clinic) and they found lots of problems with me so I was having all kinds of tests run and those cost me NOTHING. I had two surgeries that they did together- partial mastectomy and lap chole, and only had to pay one co-pay (250) AND they got me in quick so I would not have to miss school.
I have to say without that insurance I have no idea where I would be, but I doubt it would be in school.
Best wishes to you!!
