I have been offered 2 jobs, both at a level 1 trauma center... MICU, and CVU. I know that the CVU is the better experience for becoming a CRNA..but the reputation of the unit at the hospital is very poor. They have not been able to retain staff. The MICU's reputation, however is really great. My end goal is to get into a good CRNA school and to build a strong resume, however I am not sure if I should risk taking the job in the CVU and being miserable to do this. I guess my question is, how much less competitive will my resume be in choosing MICU over the thoracic cardiovascular unit?

So why not take the CVU job for now with hopes of maybe transferring to a better hospital afterwards. At least you can start getting some experience in it and you'll be better prepared once you go to the "preferred" hospital. Just a thought....
The problem is that I have been a travel nurse for 3 years and I am moving home to be settled for a while. I would like to stay in one place if possible.
