This is exactly what I was thinking! Why wake up everyday to do a job that you do not want to do?
I honestly didn't go into nursing just for the money. ****, I could go be a engineer and do better that way. I did it because it is a challenging career that makes me feel I made a difference. I leave work feeling complete!

I am a BSN student who is having an internal debate right now. I potentially will be working for two different hospital systems in the city I live near. One of them offers a 50 percent tuition discount while going to school, if you will work with them for an entire year afterwards. Basically, they would place you wherever they want (floor-wise) and for night shift.
But, the other hospital system I want to work for directly out of college offers a critical care program to new BSN grads (competitively). This is what I really want to do, and I would rather skip the year in Med-Surg that is recommended for experience before having to apply to CC. This hospital system also is a better company overall, but does not offer a tuition discount. They work with you to find open positions, but do not strap you down to something that you do not want.
With all this to consider, I would be saving around 15 grand in loans if I decided to work with a tuition discount. But, I would sacrifice the chance to do what I want to do and be stuck on a floor that is assigned.
