Hey all,
I just got accepted to the nursing program in Saddleback for Fall '09!
But I'm still waiting to hear from Golden West as well.
My question is, which school has the better nursing program, Golden West or Saddleback?
Anybody on either program and has any tips/ recommendations?
Thank you so much in advance!!
I got a rejection too. I'm going to reapply for GWC and Saddleback Spring '10 as a last ditch effort to go to school closer to home (I'm a likely Spring '10 student at Cerritos with how they run it). It would be cool if all these schools would let the accepted students swap for schools closer to home
Hey AAnderson,
You said you live in Costa Mesa, right? So how long does it take you to get to Saddleback? Do you take the 405?
How is Pharmacology? I took it last semester at GWC and it was fairly challenging...
Once I saw I got into Saddleback, I looked up some summer classes to get a head start but they were all full
From55,
I take the 405 and exit either Crown Valley or Avery...just depends on my mood. :) I work near John Wayne airport...and I made it to class last Tuesday in 30 minutes (including parking & walking to class.) I did leave work at noon, so I didn't have to deal with any traffic....which is definitely not going to be the norm!
I just started Pharm on Tuesday. The professor said that it's going to be the hardest class that we will take in the nursing program, so it's fair to say that I'm super scared!!
The Pharm class was full too, when I tried to register, but I just happened to check it one last time and there was one spot that opened up last week. So, I snagged it! I was planning on crashing Coastline's or GWC's Pharm class...just because they're closer, but I might as well get used to the commute now.
From55,
I think that I PM'd you, but my "sent" messages are empty...so I'm not sure if you got it or not.
Anyways, in case you did get it, I won't repeat myself again. But if you didn't, let me know, and I'll just post it on here.
PS: Pharm is kicking my butt! I'm so glad that I didn't wait to take it in the fall!
I need help~
I got a letter from cerritos stating that i qualify for POSSIBLE admission to the nursing program in fall 10 or spring 11 and that in order to qualify for possible admission i need to pass the TEAS with a 67%...if I pass it does anyone know if that means i have been accepted???????????

What it means is you got picked in the lottery and they accepted your grades and application, so congratulations! Everyone's letter says this. When the lottery was drawn, everyone got a number (known to them). Next, what you have to do is pass the TEAS test to stay in the game. From there they weed out who don't pass the TEAS, those who might decline because they end up going somewhere else etc. Then in order of the lottery results, they will take the first batch for the Fall '10 semester and the next batch for the Spring '11 semester (plus leaving room for alternates).
This is confusing so I will try to make it clear... Everyone got a number and you can find out what your number was when you turn in your TEAS results on the testing date. If you passed, on the spot they will hand you an orientation letter. You can guestimate which semester you're likely to get in based on the number. It will be a little more clear when you show up for the orientation lecture. For example, I was 76. I think they took 50 for each class, so in order for me to make the Fall semester it meant that 26 people would have to bail out before the first day, so I was in for the Spring... and here I am, almost finishing the Spring semester. Make sure you go to the orientation because if you don't, even if you're unlikely to make it to Fall, they keep track. If you're close to the cutoff you could luck out and get in anyway because someone will be a no-show. They will repeat the orientation for the Spring folks again later. At my Spring orientation, there were about 15 no-shows so a bunch of lucky people got in and even still, some people dropped out before the first day and more got in. Crazy but it happened!
Good luck! I hope you get in for the Fall, since it's nice not to have summer break up your momentum when you're just getting started!

I got my rejection letter today from GWC. Oh well, Saddleback here I come!
Must study for the TEAS test though.
Anybody else got news from GWC?
