Kind of a broad question, I know.....but I mean in regards to pay, benefits, work environment, staffing, etc...?

Well you certainly have a lot to choose from.. we have one of the best medical centers in the country here and with that comes awesome hospitals. I've known many, many people who loved working for Texas Children's and Texas Woman's. If you want to branch out (technically not 'Houston' but in the area) Christus St. John's is popular among employees.. it's a pretty nice, low key hospital.
Clear Lake Regional, all I can tell you is I loved the oncology staff there when my parents were going through cancer (many years ago).. the nurses were the best. You could tell they all loved their job. I don't know if the hospital is still that great or not but it's a choice.

What about Houston's new Methodist Hospital opening in 2011. What do they pay experienced Rn's. Any feed back on their other hospitals??

i did my 1st med surg clinical rotation at clearlake regional on 5s & 6, i believe. the hospital staff (pharm, cnas, phleb, PT, etc) was super helpful. the second there was a spill of anysort, enviornmental services were already on top of it. in terms of the patient atmosphere, you will find more intelligent (IMO) group of people, but many of them who have difficulty complying with diabetic diets, etc. its a wonderful place to get your feet wet.
i just read in the newspaper they just approved a $90million-something addition. they have a great breast & vascular institute.
in terms of the personality of the nurses, who you get along with, what behaviors you tolerate /expect are all up to you. all you can do is be a helpful, kind and competent employee.
best of luck!
ps i live in clear lake and

Cypress-Fairbanks Hospital. You will have the most voice and control of your career/work environment out of any hospital in Houston because you are backed by a new but strong nursing union.
