Where's all the great jobs with the great pay and great need? A three fold question indeed. seems as if poetry is my niche, LOL. No , but really where are some good jobs or where do they need nurses in WV?

Hello Blueheaven,I am sorry I did not understand your post. Yes, I am sure every facility has its own problems, gossip and politics never go away. You have been at River Park how long?

talked to a friend from Huntington this weekend, she is so tired of all of the crap with nursing she told me she can't hardly make herself go to work now.
Clinically depressed??? Caregiver burnout?? Time for a change??
She work at Cabell, good pay and benefits but still the old do more, too many patients for 1 nurse, too much politics.
I was wondering what the average patient per nurse load was these days at Cabell.
Gets back to my point
Floor nursing has NEVER been easy. I have worked in every hospital in Huntington at least once, and at River Park since it has been a psych hospital and when it was a acute care hospital. Whether you are in charge or have a patient load it has NEVER been easy. How come she doesn't post on allnurses?
She is thinking of going to Ohio for a weekend job. Any thoughts?
I am sure I can put you in contact with some of my former coworkers (who are spread all over southern ohio) who are working at many different facilities and will probably say the same thing...too much work...not enough help...etc. Is this weekend job in addition to her job during the week??? If this is the case, sounds like she is headed for major burnout if she already isn't there.
I worked for 10 years at Cabell, 3 years during nursing school at St. Mary's + having various family members as patients there. 2 years at Huntington Hospital (when Cabell still had the Baylor plan-I worked 2 full time jobs) 1 year per diem at River Park. 1.5 year in a local nursing home. 14 years at River Valley Healthcare System in Ironton. 2 years at Huntington VAMC and currently working in Baltimore, Md.

Hi Heaven,
Wow. You have gotten around a lot. I do not know the specifics of what this lady is so burned out about at Cabell. I do know she has had back problems and worked in HH and psych for a long time to be able to work at all. We are hit and miss friends, if we see one another we have several things to talk about, but we do not seek each other out so to speak. I know her husbands family very well.
How is working in Maryland? I know some people drive over the line for jobs that live in that area.
I do not know what type, where, or anything about the weekend job in Ohio this lady was referring to. I just know she is going to make a change after the first of the year.
