Hello!
I will be separating from the Navy Nurse Corps in 6 months (honorable discharge), and I am moving back to Houston, Texas, to hopefully get a nursing job in the med center and go back to school. I have done med-surg, ICU (CCRN certified), and PACU in the past 5 years. I am also certified fluent in Spanish by the Defense Language Institute. I am looking for an ICU job; if I cannot find one then perhaps Emergency Department. I am not too picky about pay, as long as it is comparable to similar positions. I am looking for a good working environment, with lots to learn, and with coworkers who value teamwork, and provider staff that are helpful and willing to teach/mentor; supportive management is always a plus. Can anyone make any recommendations? St. Luke's, Methodist, Ben Taub, TCH?

I am interested in the Navy Nurse Corps. Do you mind if I ask why you are leaving ? ( don't want to be nosy, just trying to get as much info )
Can you tell me what you liked & disliked about it ?
Good luck on your job search.

Do you have your BSN? Almost every facility in the med center is wanting BSN's, even experienced ADN/ASN have problems getting hired there. Being fluent in Spanish is a huge plus in the med center.
As for which facility, they all have pros and cons.
And thanks for your service.

I did not know that, nice to know.
Then getting a job at any facility in the med center should not be a huge issue.
