Where do all the MDS Coordinators live?

I know we're not supposed to advertise here and I'm not but where do good MDS Coordinators live? Surely not around here....we put an ad on Career Builders and didn't get one response. Unlike the ad I put on Craig's List for a medical records person.

I would love to be "home grown". My MDS coordinator works very limited part-time and has no interest in training anyone. I can take a course, but I would love hands on! There are not many facility that want to hire AND train for MDS.

Specializes in Long term care.

Rock Falls, IL. here. My MDS coordinator is also speaking about not continuing in this department. With our medicaid/public aid rates being frozen for the next year, and all the new information for the 3.0, she feels burdened. July, August & September assessments are going to be so important for us - I've also asked the DON if I may educate our CNA's on how to complete the ADL and Behavior information correctly, and what it is used for (it's not just some dumb paperwork that they have to fill out so I have something to do)

Specializes in Assessment coordinator.

I'm in Arizona, Tucson, with about 20 facilities. Whenever one of us quits, we all shift jobs. (Most of us about every 18 months) keeps us all fresh, we all know each other, we have great networking, and we all feel pretty much the same about all the big corps, because we've worked for them all. It's a tight knit local group. One corporation was good about letting us all work in all four local facilities.

Regional people can be the key to recruiting sometimes, AND PLEASE tell your administrator NOT to call around to other facilities and try to bribe someone away from their current job. I have always gotten a call-back number and taken it to my current administrator and complained that I don't get paid to be recruited by other administrators.

Wait until October 1st.....I think there will be LOTS of Open MDS Positions!! :smokin:

Specializes in pedi, practice management, school nurse.

I am very interested in becoming an MDS nurse. I have been a practice manager and a director of nursing and am looking for a change. I am on cape cod and if your facility changes it mind about "growing your own" I would love to hear from you. All the ads I have seen require experience but not sure how to get it!
