Where could I buy a copy of a medical magazine???

I need to write a 2pg summary on an article from either a Medical Journal or Professional Publication. This is for my medical termiology class. The article can be about anything medical. However, it needs to have plenty of medical terms and some abbreviations. I know I can find a copy at my college library, but I can't take them home. I have two young sons, so if I can buy a copy and do the work at home then I would rather do that. The article has to be from either of those two resources. I can not use an internet site, JAMA, The New England Journal of Medicine, or publication for physicians. Would a regular magazine or book store have what I am looking for??? If anyone can help me I greatly appriciate it!!!

why dont you just do an online search? a lot of medical journals have their articles online.

Lexus Nexus is a great resource to find what you need. Just type in your topic and it will bring up several different journal articles for you to choose from.

Some book stores have nursing journals. Libraries will let you copy an article (they're usually only a few pages long, less that $1 to copy). -andrea

I believe that you can get articles older than 6 mos for free from the New England Journal of Medicine website:

I got several articles from medical/nursing journals for my leadership project off this site:

Some are free, some are a few bucks.

Can you photocopy an article you find in the library? Libraries really are the best place to go. Online searches can sometimes be worthwhile, too.

when I didn't have easy access to a library with many journals, http://www.bmj.com was my favorite- British medical journal was one of the first to offer full text articles for free. I don't know if they still do, it's been a number of years since I've used the site, but it's another you could try.

I want to thank everyone for your suggestions. Today I was able to go to the college librabry and photocopy a few articles. I copied a few different ones from different sources b/c I didn't have time to sit down and read them right then. I got 2 from the American Journal of Nursing(AJN) and 1 from Pediatirc Nursing. Both magazines were really good but the article I chose to do my summary on is from AJN. The AJN magazine also had one of those subscription postcards in it. So, since I liked it so much I decided to subscribe to them. It costs more then most magazines($29.95 for 12 issues-ONSALE!! :smackingf ) but I think it is worth it. Plus, with starting clinical this fall, they will probably be useful.

Anyway, I did copy down all the websites that were suggested in case I need to do something similar. Thank you all, again!! :thankya:
