Where to go from here

Hello all, I'm new here to the message board. I have a question or two that I need help with. I haven't been able to find the answer online and I came across this forum and thought maybe somewhere here could give me a hand.

I'm a CNA, but I'd like to further my education (possibly career) in the nursing field, but I have no clue what to do now. I've searched online to find out where I need to go, what courses I would need to take, etc..

I've looked around at some colleges here where I live (Nebraska) but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Often, if you make an appointment with a college advisor they can guide you and assist with your academic plan for entry into nursing. There are a number of courses you need to take before you can enroll in the nursing program, but in most cases, you can get these courses completed pretty quickly.

There are several entries into nursing. The LPN level is generally a 10-12 month vocational education. Don't be mistaken, the LPN training is very intense as a lot of education is stuffed into 12 months. The 2 year Associates Degree for entry into RN practice and the 4 year BSN for professional entry into practice.

If you have additional questions, I would suggest that you go back to your local college and talk with an advisor, who can help you decide which route is best for your personal circumstance.

Most of all, congratulations on your desire to become a nurse. We need you! Don't give up your dream and goal because it is difficult getting information. Continue to have the fortitude to get that information and move forward in pursuit of your desire to become a nurse.

Carissa, There's life beyond the computer screen. Get off your booty go down to the nearest college go to the counseling office tell them you want to speak to a counselor. Tell the councelor you want to be a nurse and where and what do you need to do to get started.
