Where to get CPR certificate

Hi All,

Could someone guide me in the right direction... on how to obtain my first BLS certificate as a RN?

Im around the edison area, somewhere locally would be good, I have also heard about online courses... that would be ideal, but I am not sure if that is a valid method of getting the first BLS certificate.

This is the online course I found, teh card they send you looks a little dubious doesent appear to have the AHA logo on it.... what do u think?

Most EMS agencies offer them... so your local FD or ambulance service is a good place to start. If they don't offer them, they will likely be able to point you in the right direction locally.

You can only complete the classroom program online then complete the skills demonstration in person, you can find the online course from the best source, American Heart Association:

CPR

Most hospitals offer BLS and more courses to the general public, some fire departments/EMS agencies (though some only offer Red Cross not American Heart; some facilities require AHA as that is the hospital standard). Depending on where you are in NJ, many EMS & Fire agencies are volunteer and thus only offer training to their current members.

Monoc provides ALS in much of NJ and offers BLS, ACLS, etc to the general public. A quick glance at the site appears they are not an authorized affiliate of AHA or ARC (red cross doesn't offer as much online) therefore it is highly likely that your course certificate will not be accepted by a hospital employer. Note that AHA & ARC do not issue certifications any longer; they offer "course completion" cards meaning that you fulfilled the classroom and didactic requirements and passed the skills exam.
