When Will the Nurse-Compact Be Fully Implemented

Published

Here is the latest update from the National Council Of The State Boards Of Nursing:

Pennsylvania Background Check Bills Move Forward

Two companion bills, House Bill 2200 and Senate Bill 1165, have been filed in Pennsylvania to address longstanding criminal background check issues that have prevented the state from fully implementing the NLC.

These bills would establish a background check process for health care practitioners, including nurses, who apply for a license in Pennsylvania. Specifically, the bills set out how the Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Department of State and FBI shall transmit an applicant's criminal record information. Both bills have passed their chamber of origin with strong support and await further action.

Hope these bills will finally allow Pennsylvania nurses to get compact licenses.  Forty states are now compact members.

I read that he signed the bill, correct?  Does anyone know what the next step is or how long it'll take now for PA to become a compact state?
