When will I get my results in California?

Published

I just took my NCLEX exam on Monday. I had a total of 75 questions, and thought I completely bombed it. The test started off with some fairly easy questions, and from then on they were very tough. When can I expect to see my results on the boards website? Thanks for the help.

Just to clarify, I took it on Monday, February 13th.

Hi Madrosa, I also live in California and just took NCLEX - LVN today. My friend and I both feel we failed and we were top of our class (A students) and have been studing for four months. We felt like we guessed at 90% of that exam. Did not ask us what we knew (drugs we were not familiar with and they gave no hint of what the drug was for). We are so stressed and upset. I don't know if you took LVN or RN, but we called the BON today and they said we may have to wait for LVN results up to four weeks (letter in mail). They do not have the quick result option in CA which really stinks. We are so stressed that we failed and scared. The RN may be different. I'm not sure. Good luck to you. I'm praying for all of us to pass. Please Lord!!!!!

When I took the LVN boards, about 10 years ago, they told us that the computer wants you to miss 50% of the questions. The questions will keep getting harder until you are missing 50 %. So they want to know, at what level of difficulty are you missing 50%?

So you walk out feeeling like you didn't do well, but I did pass.

Hi Nursemelani, thank you for your post and encouragement. I am so overwhelmed with anxiety right now. My friend who also took the NCLEX today is also beside hereself. We went from getting A's in school to feeling like we probably failed today and have worked so hard for this. That exam was just totally out there. I wonder why they can't test us reasonable on what our knowledge is and what was learned in school. How can you be expected to memorize the PDR drug names (when they don't give you enough infor. to know what all these drugs are for). At least they could give you common drugs not ones no one has heard of. Sorry to unload. Just feeling so upset and anxious waiting for the news (probably four weeks). Not sure how I'll get through it and what if I failed. Thank you for your encouragement and support though. I know you are a great nurse!!! Take care. Will let you know if we passed.

BRN actually doesn't handle the LVN licenses in CA. They come out of a separate office.

You will need to wait until you get your letter in the mail, and then pay the $100 fee for the license. You will not get a license number issued to you until they receive the payment after you get your results. And yes, one month sounds about right for that.

Sorry.

Earliest that you will ever see is three to four days, but that is not the norm to see a license posted on the Ca BRN website.

Do you know for a fact that they have a complete file on you, that your transcripts were received, etc.? That usually is what causes the delay.

They definitely have my transcripts and file ready to go. Its a long story, but I'm certain that they are not causing the delay. I've been checking the website to see if I got my RN license, but no luck so far. Its really stressing me out!

The average wait is ten days for an RN to see their name posted, that is the average. The three to four days for posting, is not the norm.

Hi there. I am in Ca and took my boards on Feb 2. I found out about a week later (8 days to be exact!) But I know our school was late getting the transcripts in and I took it in Nevada because I moved to northern Ca and it was closest.... so that may have made a difference. Online you may see it as early as three days to a few weeks. Just depends how backed up they are inputting info. Mine stopped at 80Q's and I passed. That's good that the Q's seemed hard to you, they were probably higher level Q's. Am sure ya passed. Keep us posted, good luck, and TRY to relax! Lori R.N.

Hi Madrosa,

I was talking to my classmate the other day who told me she had failed the NCLEX. But the day before yesterday she told me she got a letter in the mail from the CA BRN saying she passed! She had assumed she failed because all of our classmates found out in 2-3 days, so she assumed no news was bad news. Why don't you try to keep yourself distracted--see a movie, go out with friends, etc. It's torture sitting around wondering if you passed or not! Anyway, best of luck to you, I'm praying that you passed!

I took the test on 2/2/06 and finally found my name on the permanet license part of the board's website on 2/17/06. It was because my school didn't send transcripts until the end of January, I hear.
