Does anybody got a good set of guidelines for when to send a kid home for a rash? I see kids with rashes all the time and most of the time its eczema. I think I only ever caught one kid with a full body rash and it turned out to be scarlet fever. Anything will help!

i use the how was it? how is it? how does it look in an hour? method when i'm not sure what a rash was caused by. Of course if the rash is accompanied by a fever - then i look to have that child leave right away instead of playing any guessing games. But often times it's simply a case of contact dermatitis. I will often call home when i first see the student too to determine if the rash was noted at home, if any treatment was given, if there were any new products (or any new bottles of the same stuff - as often perfumes and dyes are changed but not announced)

In addition to Flare's questions, is the child on antibiotics? Has he/she been hot tubbing?
