I have a test question:
When communicating with an older client who is hearing impaired, the nurse initially:
A. Stands in front of the client
B. Exaggerates lip movements
C Obtains a sign language interpreter
D. Pantomimes and writes the client notes
Which one is correct?
Thank you for your reply

My original degree is in speech-language pathology, and I would agree that the correct answer is "A". Exagerrating lip movements makes speech much harder to read. Older people who are hard of hearing probably do not know sign language as it is taught to younger children (someone has said that already).
