I am just wondering if I should start applying for a job if I am not going to move to Texas until Sept? I am a new grads and I will be moving to Mckinney, Texas around Sept.
Is it okay if I put in my application right now? Do you think the hospital HRs will just ignore my application?

If you are a new grad, you may not actually be able to get an internship until January. Some hospitals might hire you for an orientation period and then have you do the internship in January. Now is probably a good time to start the application process - it takes them at least 2 mos to process everything anyway! They are not fast about getting back to you - You'd think it would be the opposite since there such a nursing shortage!!
Thanks for your information. I think it is very helpful. I have been asking different people about the hiring process in Texas but no one seems to exactly know what the hospitals will do with new grads who apply before or after Jan and June. If they can give me orientation before Jan, it would be great! I can possibly be more prepared than all the other new grads who will start their internship in Jan.
Maybe I can apply online and wait to see if they can grant me an interview. If they do, I will just have to fly down there for a few days. And I can also check on my new house down there too.

I live in McKinney--to which hospitals are you thinking of applying?
On a side note--keep us posted on how it goes--I, too, might be in the same situation, as we are thinking of having another baby next year (near graduation), and I would not be available to start until September. I have been mulling over this decision--any news you get and decide to pass along would be helpful!!
Good Luck!

How do you like McKinney? I am thinking I might apply for McKinney Medical Center, Baylor in Plano or other locations and then will try some hospitals in Dallas area.
Congrads on your plan. And good luck with your school. I will keep you posted.

I like McKinney...there are certain things I like/certain things I don't like about living here. There is an area of McKinney that is absolutley beautiful--tons of trees and BIG houses. If you have a family, there are lots of parks and good schools. I love Market Street--they have a wonderful deli (and wine section!)
I have heard nothing but good things about Baylor Plano. There is also Centennial Medical Ctr in Frisco. My friend belongs to Rotary and they went on a 'field trip" there. She says that hospital is so up-to-date and so technologically advanced. Might be worth looking in to. It is a Tenet hospital (they pay back your student loans!)
If you want any info--you can PM me and I will gladly fill you in!
