Nursing is a profession that often involves long lonely night shifts in eerie hospital wards. It's a perfect breeding ground for ghost stories. These stories often involve sightings of apparitions, strange noises, and unexplained events that are said to have taken place in hospitals, hospices, and other healthcare settings. Some of these stories are believed to be based on true events, while others are purely fictional. Regardless, they continue to captivate and intrigue both nurses and non-nurses alike - providing a spooky glimpse into the world of healthcare after dark.

I worked nights and all the new people get initiated. so that night they told one of our rn's to take a body to the morgue, she got in the elevator and the body sat up she was freaked but it ended up being one of the other rn's playing a joke. when i worked maturnity they used to pretend they dropped dolls which we thought were babies.

Then you have to make the effort.

several years ago, while working night shift in a long term care facility, myself and another rn were sitting at the nursies station which overlooked all three halls. i looked up and seen what looked like a white silouette, like an angel floating across the hall from one room to across the hall. i looked at the other nurse, and she said without looking at me, i seen it too. a few minutes later, the resident in that room pushed her call light. the other nurse and i went to her room and she was saying, "i saw an angel on my ceiling. " later that night, we had another resident on a different hall crying that she had also seen an angel on her ceiling! neither of these ladies died anytime soon after these incidents!

this is a totally true story!

'i have believed in angels ever since"

Well, so much for sleep tonight after reading this! lol I dont have a ghost nurse story, but the neighbors house is supposedly haunted. Lights turn on and off by themselves. Along with the light switch. Doors open and close also. Interesting...

i love this stuff. it gives me goosebumps, but doesn't really scare me, just gives me hope that the soul goes on after death.

I'm at work right now in an LTC facility, and we had a lady pass away yesterday morning. Tonight (I work 11-7) her call bell has gone off three times... I finally unplugged it because it was scaring the CNAs... I don't find it frightening, more like she is still wanting a little attention.

Glad to say I don't have a story yet!!

This just happened yesterday about 3 pm....All of our facility doors at the end of the wings are alarmed, for the "wanderers". Well, one door alarm went off.....and the two most "obvious" culprits for wandering were right in plain view. Mind you, these are very heavy doors! Yeah, we did a head count, and everyone was accounted for. I jokingly said "It must be A. S." cuz this one little old lady who was down that hall always said she'd let us know she is "still around"......my boss had to laugh.

Whoa

When I was in nursing school I worked in home care as a PCA. My sister and I both worked in a home that had a lot of kids with special needs. There was one little boy on nursing care, and we all loved this kid. He'd been shaken as an infant and had suffered severe injuries as a result. Couldn't walk, couldn't talk, had a trach in to breath. Always followed you around with his big brown eyes, and would laugh like crazy when one of the other kids got in trouble. :) Sweet little boy.

This happened during a summer where we'd had a lot of really bad thunderstorms and a lot of power outages. I was out at a friend's house during a really bad storm. We'd lost power, but the rain had passed, a couple of us were standing out on the deck after the storm to get some air. I saw... something.. at the end of the yard.. I would almost describe it as a white light but it felt to me like it was more substantial than light. Got kind of an eerie feeling. I turned to my friend and said 'Amy, I just saw an angel.' Of course she thought I was nuts. I eventually went home and went to bed. My sister woke me up that morning to tell me that Z had died during the night.

The day of his funeral would have been his ninth birthday. They released a huge bunch of colored balloons at the cemetary. The balloons were kind of drifting up into the sky the way you'd expect them to, but then out of no where, a gust of wind came up and blew them all directly into a tree. My sister thought that it was Z's way of saying hi. I agree.
