I'm a sophomore in high school and I know I want to go into the health care field. Pregnant people just make me so happy that I feel like I'm going to go on to being a CNM or an OB/GYN nurse, but what's the difference? I'm not really interested in the GYN part when it isn't dealing with pregnancy though. And what's it like? Are there reasonable hours, and which field is more independent, like doctors kind of let you do your own thing, because I don't really like being bossed around as much. And I'm really dying to know, do nurses get to put on the gel for the ultrasound? Thank you!
No, nobody is being harsh on you. This is an adult website for professionals. If this is too harsh for you, I suggest you go back to Snapchat or wherever it is you kids hang out at. When you post here, I'm going to treat you as I would any other person, regardless of your age.
We're trying to answer your questions, while at the same time letting you know that as an adult, your priorities and things you find important will likely change.
Wow. Ok. I think it's great that a high school sophomore signed up for AN and is getting perspective from nurses on a career path she is interested in! How can a "professional adult" be so disrespectful and nasty to a young adult thinking beyond next weekend's plans? People are unbelievable! Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "nurses eat their young". Real nice, telling a teenager to get off a nursing career website and go back to Snapchat. WOW, I have no words for that!
OP, I've wanted to work in labor and delivery since I was your age too and Im still chasing that dream. Don't let a few rude people ruin your dreams and goals, - you have every right to be here! Good luck!
