What to write my paper on related to Critical Thinking!!

My assigned topic is Critical thinking - I can write about anything I want pertaining to CR and nursing but it's such a vast topic I need help narrowing down one topic! Any suggestions?

Really, I read the header and your question and you're lucky you don't owe me a new keyboard because I'll be cleaning the coffee out of this one for a week. :) I know you didn't mean to be funny, but OMG, unintentional humor is the best thing to see on a dreary Monday morning, so thanks for that.

Seriously, what you need to do is go to the library (remember libraries?) and pull some articles on critical thinking so you know what it's about. Yep, it sure is a wide topic, since critical thinking is, well, critical in most adult endeavors. Reading five or six (!!!) articles on critical thinking in nursing will give you focus, too. Read a bit more widely and you'll have a start on, ahem, CRITICAL THINKING, so you'll be able to learn something as you develop your essay.

You did realize that the object of this exercise was not just to have you turn in a paper, but to learn something that ill be absolutely essential to practicing at any level in your chosen field, right? Have fun with it! Your faculty are doing you a huge favor in getting you started with this.

First, the user above is right. Even not neccessary to go to libraries, countless articles, tips are available online. The best library is Google:)

There's sooooo much research on this topic that it's easy to become lost in it. I would suggest that you narrow your topic to a single component of CT (more modern terminology is "clinical reasoning"). One really interesting component is development of "Expertise" - you could narrow this a bit further to look at the effort required to become an expert. Trust me, there is a ton of research in this area but it involves all clinical disciplines, not just nursing.

If you want to explore a golden oldie, I'd suggest looking at the Dreyfus model of skill acquisition. This research is what Benner used as a basis for her model, but it rarely receives appropriate attribution.
