Just curious, do you wear hospital or personal scrubs to work?
We have facility scrubs that we have to wear. They are stamped with "Authorized OB Staff" and are part of our "security" system - we tell the moms that if someone comes to take the baby (to the nursery, for an MD visit, or whatever), they should be wearing those scrubs. If they aren't, they shouldn't give them the baby!
When I first started we wore hospital scrubs that we changed into and out of at work. I didn't mind and it saved me money on scrubs. When we were asked to make budget cuts uniforms were the first thing we put on the chopping block. Once approved, we then wore our own scrubs in to the hospital and home.

It's not a sense of pride, so much as a sense of laziness (besides, most hospital provided scrubs don't say the hospital on them, they're just surgical greens). I agree that wearing scrubs to the grocery store is ick. M/B is generally a not very icky place. If I get blood or amniotic fluid on my scrubs, certainly I change them before leaving.
If I worked in a different area, I would probably feel more like you do.
