I have an interview with a state run mental health facility tomorrow. What's the standard interview dress for that kind of place? I did my last interview in jeans, boots, and a polo shirt.
I do not mind the nurses that come in wearing their scrubs. To me it just means they are working. Only twice in all these years have I had a man come to an interview with a suit on... I hired both. I did not hire the guy who came in flipflops and wore cologne you could smell hours later yet.
As for the women, most are dressed nicely in a different array of colors, never jeans. Since i do have a multicultural staff, I have had some of the ladies come in wearing their burka which will be worn when they work anyway... the question all of them ask is what type of uniform I require. My answer is they can wear any color they want but, for those that wear only black to an interview I suggest that in a LTC setting that it would be more comfortable to the residents to not see the black all the time.

I always go with a suit , I have a plum colored, below the knee skirt suit and nice shoes but not stilettos. When I have interviewed, the first thing they would comment on was the suit. You can go neutral gray or blue, I just liked this color, very pretty, not drab (I hate grey and blue) just looks crappy on me. I wore scrubs once, leaving the nite shift, to interview in the same facility. I would never wear jeans. Dress to impress, it may just make or break the interview, plus a good suit will last you for years, worth the investment.
