Right now I work as a RN in a hospital. I have applied to a Case Management position and know the name and email address of the Manager of the Department.
My question is: Do you think I should send her an email telling her who I am, my experience and education and that I would love to get together with her to talk about the possibility of working in the Case Management Department?
Why not stop by her office to say hi, introduce yourself, and let her know you've put in the application? I'll bet nobody else will do that, and a smiling face is worth a dozen emails.
Specializes in ED, ICU, MS/MT, PCU, CM, House Sup, Frontline mgr.
I agree with GrnTea.... Get away from an email introduction because it is impersonal. Every job I have landed (to include CM jobs), I met the hiring manger one-on-one or the person who recommended me also knew me in-person. That has not changed despite the rise in technology. Good luck.
I just wanted to let you all know I got called and am going to job shadow a case manager next week! I'm hoping it leads to employment. :-) Thanks for your advice!
