I train for triathlons and other races and I am always told by my coach to write out a race plan for the races I do. I was thinking about the big test day and figured it would be a good idea to do the same.
My Test Day Plan:
The night before I will drive to the test center to see where I am going and where I can park. Eat a good dinner not to heavy not too light :) Go to sleep early and try to rest even if I can't sleep. Do some visualizations of myself testing...reading questions slowly, staying calm if I don't know the answer...seeing myself finish at 75 or 265 questions...squashing negative thoughts...
The morning of the test, I will eat a light breakfast and pack snacks, paperwork and ID. Go to the test center and in the car do a body check...relax every part of my body and think positive thoughts and see myself taking the test and being successful...Look in the mirror and say today is the day I pass the NCLEX. Get out of the car do some stretches and deep breathing and head in to test center. Register and take the test.
Come out of the test and have 5 min to freak out and then stop negative thoughts and try for positive. Come home go for a run. Go to the gym and swim if I have enough time before my 1 hour MASSAGE!
Leave the gym and go to work for benefits meeting. Pick up my son...eat dinner with him. Put him to bed and watch on demand of Sopranos and Big Love. Try to sleep or read allnurses.
Keep positive thoughts that I have passed and will know for sure with in 48 hours :)
What is your test day plan?
hope to be a nurse

That sounds something like my plan. I have been also going through it in my head. I have been trying to stop myself from any negative thinking.
I take my test tomorrow.
good luck to us.

I believe that eating a high protein breakfast will keep your brain in better shape for the test than eating a high carb breakfast - so I'm going for the scrambled eggs on toast instead of just fruits and grains.
Is one allowed to take snacks into the testing room itself, or are the snacks for when you take a break?
