When I worked in peds, I had a doc chew me because I didn't get to the phone fast enough for him. Not long after that, he came striding into the unit with a "Hi! How are you?" as if nothing had ever happened. I just gave him a level gaze and said, "Don't ever talk to me like that again." He didn't.
I can sympathize with you, BTDT. You were in an urgent position and couldn't just hang up or set the phone on the desk and walk away. Any chance you can see him in person and tell him what a crappy thing have did?
