What has been your favorite experience so far as a CNA?

Teaching high school seniors the skills to pass the CA CNA exam is fun. They are learning health care skills that will serve them their entire health care careers.

Praying with a lonely patient and singing hymns with her was huge. She had a Lutheran Book of Worship in her room and no one who spoke enough English to worship with. Several of the other CNAs were devout Christians but the language barrier...I was happy to sing the old familiar hymns while straightening her room. She later transferred back to her group home but for the time I was in her room I knew that divine presence was there to comfort her.

Working in a skilled pediatric facility with some of the best residents that are so special...and I don't work there now but I carry what I have learned from the experience and put it to my daily life. I thank GOD everyday for my two healthy daughters and pray for those residents in knowing they will all go to Heaven and I will see them someday being healthy..i love them and GOD BLESS!!

Hey speaking of teaching HS students the skills to pass, how did you line that up? How do you go about helping to teach CNA classes? Do you have to be an LPN or higher? Do you just approach the school and ask? It is something i would love to get into. Thanks!

4 year degree, 5 year health care back ground, verified. They like BSN for contract, but for subbing will take LVN w/4 yr degree for CNA, RDH w/BA for Dental Assisting, live scan finger printing/ back ground check. It's vocational education through a school district and I clear my schedule when the vice-principal asks me to work!
