Hi everyone, I was just wondering what kind of stethoscope you recommend. A family member was going to get me a 3M Littmann Electronic stethoscope as a gift. Does anyone else have one? Do they work well? Would it be worth getting it or should I just stick to a regular stethoscope? What do you recommend?
Thank you in advance:)

Are you just starting nursing school?
If yes, buy a sub $50 basic stethoscope.

I have 2 basic Littmans and they work very well based on the type of nursing I do, clinic & public health. All depends on what type of nursing you are focusing on. Say you are into cardiology or an ICU, then going with electronic might be the better option.

I'm a cardiac nurse I and would highly recommend the 3M Littmann by far! but guard it with your life because some nurses can swipe them. Makes sure your name is on it as well

I would recommend getting a Classic II SE, or any stethoscope that's similar in quality. It's good enough to learn on, work with, and if it grows feet, you won't feel too bad about it. An electronic stethoscope is great if you have a documented hearing difficulty. My personal stethoscope is the Littmann Cardiology III. I've had mine for approximately 14 years. It is going strong, it works well, it has not grown feet. I like that stethoscope for the clarity that it has, but as a beginning nurse, you really don't need that much clarity. You just need to be able to hear what you need to and the Littmann Cardiology III is overkill for that.
If money is no object, and you are able to ensure that the stethoscope does not leave your possession, then that level of stethoscope would be perfectly fine. Just make sure that you guarded with your life because other nurses or staff might just decide that your stethoscope needs to become theirs instead. Unfortunately, some nurses and staff just have sticky fingers.
