I am pretty sure I am going to get in at the school I applied. The letters will not be sent out until June. My question is what did you have to do before you started. Once you receive your acceptance letter you have alist of things you have to do (physical, what shots) before they will let you sign up for classes. I really want to get into the morning classes instead of evening classes so I want to do what I can before then. Anyone want to share what they had to get. I would ask the school but they are not very open and helpful until they find out you are in.
God Bless,

A lot of it depends on your particular school. I had to have a physical by my Doctor, but the school provided a particular form. I had to have proof of MMR, Tetnus, and PPD. Also, you either had to get the Hep B series, or at least start it, or sign a waiver. Also get the vaccine for meningitis or sign the waiver. I think that was it really. Oh and have a current CPR cert for health care worker with AED.

Lots of stuff...and it does vary from school to school....
here is my list:
2.Shots: 2 PPD's at least 2wks apart, Varicella titer for immunity, Hepatitis B titer for immunity, provide proof of other vaccinations (MMR, polio, tetorifice).
3. CPR certification
4. Basic first aid certification
5. Math test
6. Apply for financial aid!
7. Background check
8. Registration
9. Purchase malpractice insurance
Whew! Then there is still buying books, supplies, uniforms....
I wonder how many schools require drug screenings? Mine didn't...I was (kind of) surprised to see that in Nursecadet's post....

Can I reccomend that even if your MMR is current that you still have a titer done for mumps. With the current mumps outbreak a lot of people are finding that they don't have immunity even with up-to-date vaccinations.

In my school we had to have the same vaccinations and titers done as well as a physical. We had to have the proof of CPR with AED training, we had to also get clearances of our ciminal and child abuse record. The school sent us these papers we needed to get all of this done and they sent us their own physical paper with their own questions on it and spaces for the titer results. Also, at my school the Hep A and meningococcal vaccines are optional, we don't have to get them and i don't think we have to sign a waiver either. You should honestly just wait until you get the letter form your school, everyone will be in the same boat as you when they get their letters also.

My to-do list: 1. physical exam 2. drug screen 3. attend orientation (one in the spring and a 2-day one right before class starts) 4. proof of immunity against varicella, rubeola, and rubella 5. tetorifice booster 6. fingerprint clearance card 7. CPR certification 8. TB screening 9. Hep B shot (at least the first one of the 3) *Most importantly, this must all be submitted to the nursing department on Aug. 10 (school starts Aug. 17) or we lose our seat.
