Hello,
There are so many nursing programs out there, and it's hard to choose.
Can any of you recommend some schools? I can move to any state, but would prefer to be in California, and I'm avoiding for profit schools.
I got a 78 on the TEAS, I have a 3.2 GPA and 3.6 prerequisite GPA. I also have a bachelors in a non-nursing field.
I really only want to apply to school that I would have a good shot at getting into.
Thanks!

Where are you living currently? Are you looking into ABSN programs? MSN programs? ASN? BSN only? A little more info would be helpful.
If you do not currently live in California, I am going to be honest and say to avoid like the plague. Programs have extremely fierce competition to get into. If you must be on the west coast, look into schools in Nevada or Arizona.

I completely agree about avoiding CA. Really. It’s SO hard to get in. Just look at the applicant stats for any CSU. You’ll find average gpas 3.9+ with average teas scores over 90, and that alone is not enough to get in. To be truly competitive you need to also be bilingual and have medical experience. On top of that, some do not even allow out of state applicants into the nursing program at all, and give priority to local students from the region within the state.
ADNs at a cc have more wiggle room with grades and teas depending where you’re looking, but a lot of them are a lottery and due to impaction, the odds are not in your favor unless you apply to many, many programs.
anyways, I’m sorry if I come off doom and gloom. I don’t know much about other states specifics but know that if I had the option, that’s the direction I’d be going.
