What was your scariest threat from a patient or family member

Please share how your employee handled the situation and how you dealt with it.

I witnessed a nurse almost be stabbed by a patient after using glass he broke from his bathroom mirror, after throwing our AED off the code cart, all because the patient was a section 12 and was not allowed to have his belongings. The patient cornered the nurse, security had to come. I've personally had a patient say to me "if I ever see you on the street I'll pound your face in, I don't care if I go back to prison" and a bunch of other things. This was because the doctor decreased this patient's pain medications and Xanax and I got blamed for it. Management at my work was good, they wanted to get the police involved with my case but I said no, I think the other nurse planned on pressing charges. The patient of mine continued to talk about me the next night and day and would harass me in the hallway (even though I wasn't this patient's nurse). The patient was telling multiple staff members what they planned on doing to me. Writing this, and reading the other stories, makes me sick to think we have to deal with all of this.

Wish the JW's would realize nobody particularly LIKES or WANTS to give blood. Someone must tell them it's personally rewarding for us, judging by the way they act. Administering blood is a pain.

I haven't been threatened much but I was cursed by an old Romanian lady who said that my "woman parts would dry up and I would never again know the love of a man.

Ah, yes, that threat......I have to chuckle as I could see some of the babushkas in my current city doing just that.

My dad (respiratory therapist) was held at gunpoint by a patient's family member and asked to remove the patient from the ventilator. Won't give details but the case changed ethics laws and policies for hospitals.
